Itinerary:
Day 1:Arrival at the airport, pick-up by us and transfer to the hotel for the first night. Our motorcycles do not have side bags or suitcases as standard equipment. We can provide these on request, including duffel bags. We will give you what you need straight away so that you can repack at the hotel the morning before your trip.
Day 2: Pick-up at the hotel to the motorcycle handover point. Welcome and general information about the tour. Handover and packing of the motorcycles. Departure to the first destination San Marco. On the way we visit a tobacco factory and in San Marco we have the opportunity to take a coffee tour.
Day 3: Today we see the first volcanoes. Irazú is the highest volcano in Costa Rica at 3432 meters. The stratovolcano is one of the most dangerous and unpredictable volcanoes in the country. It last erupted in 1994 with a magnitude 2 on the volcanic explosivity index. We can also see Turrialba today, which rises 3325 m above the landscape, making it the second highest volcano. It is an incredible feeling to drive between these two giants on natural roads.
Day 4: Sarapiqui de Puerto Viejo is our destination today. The roads are no longer all dirt roads, and we can even enjoy part of the Interamericana. Cruzen like in the old movies.
Day 5:We drive over the Poás volcano to the Arenal volcano. Poás is home to two crater lakes. The better-known northern and active crater has a diameter of over 1500 meters, is around 300 meters deep and contains the Laguna Caliente, which is 365 meters in diameter. It is an acid lake with a pH value of less than 1, making it one of the most acidic crater lakes in the world. Its caustic water is an intense turquoise blue. The other crater lake is called Botos. It is 14 meters deep and has a diameter of 400 meters. Both crater lakes are filled with rainwater.
Arenal is the most active and youngest volcano in Costa Rica and one of the most active volcanoes in the world. At the foot of the volcano lies the town of La Fortuna and the country's largest lake, Lake Arenal. On the way, we experience a must-do cocoa tour in the rainforest.
Day 6: Free at leisure. From 6 am you can visit the suspension bridges, river rafting, canyope tours and much more is on offer here. We will be happy to advise you. ATTENTION, you must book in advance.
Day 7: After the motorcycle-free day, we continue via the Tenorio volcano to the Rincónde la Vieja volcano.TheTenorio Volcano National Park is a beautiful protected area in the volcanic cordillera of Guanacaste. The park is estimated to cover 18,402.51 hectares. With the Rio Celeste, this area offers a true spectacle of color. TheRincón de la Vieja has an altitude of 1916 meters. The volcano was most recently active in May 2023, with 58 eruptions, eight of which were considered significant. In addition to the Rincón de la Vieja, there are six other active volcanoes in Costa Rica: Poás, Irazú, Miravalles, Orosí, Arenal and Turrialba.
Day 8: We also spend a day here. The endless expanses of the national park invite you to go on a day hike. We are happy to accompany those who prefer to travel by motorcycle. There is a lot of natural road here.
Day 9: Return to Orotina and return of the motorcycle. Today is the last day of our motorcycle tour. If you wish, you can rent the motorcycle for a few more days from here and ride to the Nicoya Peninsula, for example. Otherwise, you will be taken back to the hotel from the first day, where you can repack and enjoy the evening by the pool.
